Oahu Residents Urged to Renew IDs Six Months Early
Honolulu officials are telling Oahu residents to renew their driver's licenses and state IDs early, which is a heads-up mainly for anyone with a renewal coming due soon.
- Appointment demand is very high, with over 7,100 renewals expected per month in the weeks ahead.
- Some locations now offer Saturday appointments, with new slots released the Wednesday before at 4:15pm.
- Extra appointments are also being added at the Kapalama, Kapolei, Koolau, and Wahiawa licensing centers.
- New physical cards can take up to five weeks to arrive by mail, and temporary IDs issued in the meantime have limits on what they can be used for.
Outlook: Residents should book renewal appointments as early as possible, up to six months ahead, to avoid delays.
