New Late-Night Dessert Spot Opens at Salt in Kakaako
A Taiwanese-inspired dessert, matcha and coffee shop called Mosa has opened its third Hawaii location at Salt in Kakaako — good news for late-night snackers and the neighborhood's growing condo crowd.
- Mosa opened its Salt shop last week, after starting in Waikiki two and a half years ago and adding a second spot last August.
- The owners picked Salt because new high-rises keep going up and the arts district fits the brand.
- The draw is a Taiwan night-market style shaved brittle over homemade local ice cream, with macadamia and pistachio versions made for Hawaii.
- Drinks include matcha from Japan and coffee from a Kailua roaster, plus nut-based foams — only at this location for now.
- The Salt shop runs 8 a.m. to midnight daily, double the hours of the other two.
Outlook: The owners are eyeing a Kapolei shop next, with Seattle and San Francisco under consideration as they expand to the West Coast.
