XRP ledger upgrade aimed at banks
The XRP ledger is about to get an upgrade built for bank-style controls, which is good news for XRP holders and for institutions that want to use the network.
- A change called permission delegation is in a two-week countdown and could go live in early October.
- Most of the network's trusted validators have already backed it, and roughly 80% support is needed to switch it on.
- Banks care because it lets one account hand out narrow powers — a compliance team can approve customers without being able to move money.
- Stablecoin issuers and custodians can run daily operations online while the master keys stay offline.
- An earlier version was pulled a year ago after a tester found a bug that let attackers drain fees from another account; the rewrite fixes that by checking signatures before charging fees.
Outlook: If validators hold their support and no new bugs turn up, the upgrade activates within weeks and opens the door to wider bank use of XRP.
