Tainan fruit shipment heads to Canada

Aug 20, 2026

Tainan is sending three containers of fresh fruit and processed farm goods to Canadian supermarkets, good news for local farmers and exporters ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

  • The star product is Madou pomelo, the traditional Mid-Autumn fruit, which will hit Canadian store shelves next month.
  • This year's pomelo crop is smaller after last year's typhoon damage, but the fruit quality is better.
  • The deal runs through a Taiwanese food importer that has worked in Canada for over 30 years, and covers products from 16 Tainan growers and firms.
  • The shipment also includes frozen mango, pineapple slush, milkfish belly, baked sweet potato, and local tea drinks.

Outlook: A launch event and tasting promotion in Toronto is planned once the goods reach store shelves.
